I personally love the topic we are considering for the week, you know, I've been thinking about the particular feature I would love to see here on the platform, it's the reason why I haven't made an entry since the beginning of the week.

It was in my quest to contribute to the topic that I found out one thing I think will be needed on the steemit platform. Well, I believe these entries will be reviewed by the team and I hope my idea will be carefully considered for the benefit of all. Lets get right into it friends.

What one new feature would you like to see added to steemit.com?

That new feature will be what I would love to call "Steemit Chat Room". A section on steemit which will be strategically placed on one side of the steemit interface. I know you want to asked what gave birth to this idea, well it's simple, I have been on steemit for sometime now and I can tell for sure to an extent how things are done here.

For example after an announcement post for community curator is made, everyone drops their discord or telegram handle and then the process and conversation initiated here via the comment section continues outside of the Steemit platform, and the reason is not far fetched, steemit platform doesn't have a chat room where you get to discuss real time, sending and getting instant feedback without having to load and refresh pages like someone interacting using the comment section.

The comment section is amazing but it's limited. Hence the need for a section on the steemit platform where real-time conversation can be had and where subsequent discussion for selected curation team can continue even without leaving the platform.

Describe in detail how the new feature would work.

This is how I think it will work, firstly, under the tab where we have the profile, notification, wallet and other info for users, there should be an additional section that says "steemit chat Room", which upon clicking brings you to a brand new interface where you get to initiate chat with users on the platform.

In this chat room, you can search for users on the platform and find them easily as there would be no need to create a new username since the chat room is built on the platform. The chat room would also be configured in such a way that you get to know if a user is online or offline. If you are lucky to find them online, you can initiate a chat and get instant feed back without refreshing or reloading page since it's a chat room.

To make this more efficient, I think any developer who might be interested in working on this could enable the chat room platform send notification, although users still possess the choose to opt in and out of such option. Enabling notification helps the user get real time notification as long as his or her internet connection is active. So even if he or she is not presently on the platform, a notification from the room can bring directly to the room and by extension to the steemit platform.

Now this is where it gets even more interesting, the chat room should also be built in such a way that groups or channels can be created to give room for two or more people to have conversion and I think this would be very useful for our monthly curator routine allowing team members work together without having to leave the steemit platform to a third party platform.

I actually have no idea, if I being to mention or tags some developers here, just know I just did to fulfil all righteousness or just to feel among, I really do not know who is capable of turning this idea into reality, however I will entrust this idea into the hands of everyone developer and tech pros we have on the platform. I just hope they find it worthy of their time and consideration. I also hope that this idea is highlighted for consideration.

Would many people use it?

Oh yes! A whole lot of user would find it useful, connecting with users real time will actually be fun, don't you think so. More so, communities and folks of different nationalities and interest can have groups where they meet and discuss things pertaining to the platform just the same way they do outside of the platform.

So the idea is like making the steemit platform a one-stop-place for everything blogging and connection. This is just an idea in my head, and I'm only trying to sketch it out to the best of my ability. I know that other users who like what I'm putting forward will lend their voice give their supporting ideas as well.

Would the new feature be likely to bring any new people to the platform? Or is it more just to improve the experience of existing users?

Oh yes! It can bring in new users, It all depends on our promotion strategy, having a chatroom like this is a completely different ball game, because it's different from the conventional chat platform plus you can potentially earn. Existing users already know they can earn on the platform and that the chat room is just an extension.

But to non users one can present it as a platform where they can connect with people and earn in the process if they are want to. Now they have the option to use it as some chat room where they come catch ups with friends (primarily with those that invited them and those they will in turn invite to build a friendship base for a start) or take a step further to blog, even if it sharing their experience using the chat room, they get to earn.

Bottom line, it's a win-win situation for both existing users and potential new users as both parties will be getting value from their activities using the steemit chat room. Like I mentioned earlier, I do not know how feasible this is, but this is me just pouring out what I think can be added to the platform for more efficiency.
