My Perspective on Domestic Robots for Everyday Living
Whenever I reflect on the evolution of technology, it strikes me that its true significance lies in simplifying our daily lives. Looking back at our domestic lives over the past few decades, I can clearly see how every technological advancement—from ordinary washing machines to smart vacuum cleaners—has brought immense convenience to our routines. Lately, hearing about the progress in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics fills me with hope; the dream of having a fully functional robot in the home might well become a reality within our lifetime. In today’s post, I am eager to share my personal thoughts and aspirations regarding the second question of this week's challenge.

Yes, I would certainly buy a household robot for my home. I feel that if robots eventually become affordable for the average person, it would be foolish not to purchase one.
There is a deeply personal and somewhat emotional reason behind my desire to buy one. My wife often suffers from poor health, frequently dealing with severe headaches or physical ailments. It is heartbreaking for me to watch her struggle through household chores while unwell, yet my own busy schedule often prevents me from helping her as much as I would like. I believe that on such difficult days, having a robotic assistant would allow me—without a moment's hesitation—to relieve my wife of the burden of housework and assign those tasks to the robot instead. The sense of relief I would feel as a husband—seeing the robot automatically bring her medicine and a glass of water while she lay on the sofa in pain—would be truly invaluable.
Moreover, I feel this need deeply based on my own life experiences. After a long day of tireless work, I often return home with such intense pain in my body and legs that I feel restless, longing for some relief before finally getting into bed. I imagine that if a robot were there to massage my shoulders or back in response to a voice command, it would provide the comfort needed to escape that daily, agonizing fatigue.
I believe that if robots took over these monotonous and exhausting household chores—such as mopping floors, washing dishes, or doing laundry—ordinary families like ours would regain some precious time for ourselves, our loved ones, and a bit of rest. As humans, we may not be able to perform tasks with the same level of perfection or tireless energy every day, but robots do not face such limitations. Therefore, in my view, purchasing an affordable household robot is not merely a luxury indulgence for me, but rather one of the best lifestyle investments for my family's health, peace, and well-being.

If robots become readily available in the future, I would primarily want them to handle the most complex, time-consuming, monotonous, and—in some cases—risky tasks of our daily lives. I specifically envision a robot capable of operating via voice commands. This is particularly important to me because it would be amazing if, while I am tired or unwell, the robot could simply bring me whatever I need at the sound of my voice.

Care and medication during illness: Automatically providing care—such as bringing water and medication on a tray—upon hearing the voice of either myself or my wife when we are unwell (as shown in the image where the robot assists during a severe headache).
Daily household chores: Mopping floors, dusting, washing dishes, and handling minor kitchen tasks like chopping vegetables or initial meal preparation.
Laundry and clothing management: Sorting soiled clothes from the laundry basket, washing them, and then neatly folding, ironing, and organizing them.
Physical comfort and massage therapy: Relieving fatigue after a long day by providing a soothing massage to the back and shoulders with precise pressure before bedtime.
Hazardous household tasks: Handling risky jobs—such as cleaning exterior windows of a high-rise building or attending to dangerous drainage and electrical work—thereby preventing household accidents.
Education and skill development: Acting as a personal mentor—for instance, teaching us a new language or guiding us through complex technical subjects.

Considering the diverse opinions of experts and the current rapid pace of technological advancement, I believe it could take another 10 to 15 years (roughly until 2035–2040) for a comprehensive household robot to become fully accessible and affordable for the general public.
It appears to me that there are several logical and technical reasons behind this long timeframe, which I have attempted to illustrate simply in the table below:

If I look at the history of technology, I see that computers and smartphones were once prohibitively expensive and seemed like a distant dream for the average person; yet, within just a decade, they are now within everyone's reach. In my opinion, the same principle will apply to robotics. Initially, they might only be found in large corporations or the homes of the wealthy, but I believe that after 2035, they will become a regular and essential gadget for ordinary middle-class families like ours.
Conclusion
I view the arrival of household robots not merely as a means to simplify daily chores, but as a reliable support system that can care for the family during difficult times, illness, or days of extreme fatigue. The greatest benefit lies in delegating arduous and monotonous tasks to robots, thereby allowing us to devote more time to our loved ones and maintain our well-being. Although the high-tech nature of these devices may make them expensive initially, I firmly believe that, thanks to technological advancements, they will eventually become an integral and trusted part of the daily lives of ordinary families like ours.

Pienso que esto puede ser una necesidad en los hogares en vista de todo lo que implican los quehaceres diarios de una casa. Es como las lavadoras: tener una es de gran ayuda porque, mientras se dedica el tiempo a otra cosa, está haciendo un trabajo realmente importante.
Con un robot doméstico en casa, el tiempo se puede usar para compartir con la familia o dedicar ese espacio para otras actividades que muchas veces no se pueden hacer por falta de tiempo.

Si, tiene usted razón, un robot doméstico ayudaría mucho en el hogar, ya que se encargaría de todas esas tareas que nos agotan física y mentalmente, y nos dejan sin tiempo para disfrutar en familia, para salir a pasear o simplemente para aprender cosas nuevas.
Creo que sus plazos están en lo correcto, a pesar de que la tecnología avanza rápido, todavía falta ese lapso de tiempo considerable para que los robots puedan llegar al mercado de forma masiva y a un precio mucho más accesible.
