Diary of Lionel-Richie — The Meeting That Ate My Day
I had already pictured today as one of those days where I would finally slow down and get some proper rest after my exams. Well... that plan didn't exactly survive the day.
I woke up feeling a little uneasy this morning. I wasn't exactly sick, but I just didn't feel completely like myself. I decided not to worry too much about it. I took my bath, relaxed for a while and prepared to leave for school.
The main reason I was going to school was an executive meeting. But I didn't want to go all the way there for just the meeting, so I decided to carry some documents along and get them signed by some of the officers while I was there. At least, that was the plan.
Just as I was about to leave, rain started falling heavily. I had to pause and wait for it to calm down before eventually making my way out. I wasn't late for the meeting, although it didn't start at the exact time either. After waiting for a while, we finally began. Honestly, before the meeting started, I thought we might be done in less than an hour. I didn't even think there would be that much to discuss. I was very wrong.
The meeting went on for over two hours. And surprisingly, there was actually quite a lot to talk about. By the time we eventually finished, I had already lost a good part of the time I planned to use for signing my documents. At that point, I had to choose.
If I went ahead with the signing, I would probably spend more time there and risk getting delayed for church. The weather also looked like it was preparing another round of rain, and I wasn't interested in taking that chance. So I abandoned that plan for today, entered a moving bus and headed back home.
Once I got home, I quickly refreshed myself, took another shower, dressed up and prepared for church. I eventually got there about ten minutes late, but thankfully, I still met some of the services. Looking back, today reminded me of something simple: sometimes the plan you think will take one hour can quietly take your whole afternoon. And that was exactly what happened today.
I was also still thinking about how uneasy I felt in the morning, so I contacted a chemist I know and told him how I was feeling. He arranged some medication for me, which I received at church, along with the prescription information. I'll take it as directed and hopefully feel better. At least there is one thing I'm looking forward to tonight. My aunt is making rice and stew, with eggs as the protein. After a day like this, that alone is enough motivation to keep me going.
Once I've eaten, I'm officially retiring to my bed. My exams are over, and I think I've earned some serious rest now.
