Grasshopper - Macro Photography

Sometime last year, during our planting time, I stumbled upon this grasshopper in my farm.
When I saw it, walked towards it, I was being careful not to make it fly away.

It was perching on a green leave and I think it was resting after eating up nearby leaves. It lay so calm on the leaf without bothering much.

This kind of grasshopper is always stinky and smelly. During our childhood days, we don't dare touch them. I think that odor is one of their defense mechanism.

Grasshoppers eat green leaves and often ruin an entire crop. I am surprised that you allowed them into your fields, as most people apply sprays to their crops to protect them from such insects.

You are right. Same thing happened to me this year when i planted my crops newly but the pests that feasted on them were caterpillars.

To ensure an excellent harvest, protecting the crop is essential. Even against something as small as a caterpillar, sprays and chemical treatments are used to prevent the pests from multiplying. I was quite concerned to hear that small insects have appeared on your crop.

Okay, thanks. I will look for such chemical when next I'm farming.
