NOI NON CI ASTENIAMO 🇮🇹🇬🇧
🇮🇹
Iniziamo col dato oggettivo.
Hanno votato contro Cuba; Argentina, Bosnia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Rep Ceca, Ecuador, Ungheria, Israele, Lituania, Marocco, Macedonia, Paraguay, Slovenia, Trinidad&Tobago, Ucraina, Eau, Stati Uniti.
Quindi no.
Ieri, oggi, sempre.
🇬🇧
Let’s start with the objective facts.
Cuba has won once again.
Once again, the UN—by an overwhelming majority—has condemned the United States’ blockade.
This is the news that needs to be highlighted.
As I mentioned yesterday, the numbers differ from those of last year, but that does not diminish the significance of this major victory in the slightest.
The fact that the U.S. couldn’t care less is another matter entirely.
There were 130 votes in favor of Cuba (compared to 165 last year), 17 against, and 25 abstentions.
I expected worse.
Rubio played every card he had, calling leaders across the globe to "invite" them to vote against the island—using every tactic available, including outright blackmail.
Those who voted against Cuba: Argentina, Bosnia, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, Morocco, Macedonia, Paraguay, Slovenia, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, the UAE, and the United States.
Those who abstained: Albania, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, the Dominican Republic, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, ITALY, Jamaica, Latvia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Palau, Peru, Poland, Qatar, South Korea, Moldova, Romania, and the Solomon Islands.
Venezuela did not vote—likely because, being in arrears with the UN, it has lost its right to vote.
Friends of Cuba,
I want to tell you something very important.
We, the Italian people, are not the few pieces of shit currently governing us—hopefully only for a little while longer.
We are not the lackeys of the psychopath in the White House. Aside from a few mentally deficient individuals, we do not abstain; the real Italy—the one that works, toils, and keeps the country running—does not abstain.
I cannot even begin to describe the shame that decent people are feeling right now, as those who ought to represent us hide behind a disgraceful abstention.
Cuba, which sent us two medical brigades during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cuba, which today has 500 doctors in Calabria, making it possible to keep regional hospitals open.
Cuba, with whom we share a profound historical bond—an Italian man once set off from just 5 kilometers away from where I live, in Giaveno, to go to Havana and build an entire neighborhood.
It was called Pogolotti.
So, no.
No one abstained.
Only four incompetent and corrupt politicians—four shameless, brazen whores—and I truly hope they have no future.
The Italy that matters—the real Italy—stands with Cuba in the difficult battle it is currently fighting.
Yesterday, today, and always.
