Character Highlight Editing Tutorial
Assalamu Alaikum
The editing tutorial I am sharing today is the first one I am demonstrating using CapCut on PC; previously, whenever I shared editing tutorials, I used software like Premiere Pro, CapCut Mobile, or Alight Motion. This tutorial is incredibly simple, and the effect itself is currently trending—especially on Instagram. It is also a fun effect to use if you are editing videos for clients.
To get started, select your clip and cut it at every point where the scene or transition changes. This step is crucial because if you remove the background without cutting the clips first, the effect won't work correctly across scene changes. Next, hold down the 'Alt' key and drag the clip upwards with your mouse to create a duplicate. Then, select the duplicate clip, go to the 'Remove Background' option, and use the 'Custom Removal' tool to highlight your character.
After that, select the original clip on the main timeline (the one beneath the duplicate), go to the 'Adjust' tab, scroll down to find 'Saturation,' and set it to zero. That’s it—your edit is complete, and no further steps are required. Apply this process to each clip. If anything remains unclear from this text, please watch the attached video from start to finish for a better understanding. That wraps up today's video editing tutorial. Now, give it a try yourself! Don't forget to let us know in the comments what you learned today and what kind of tutorials you'd like to see in the future.
