Exquisite Corpse #3 — My Conclusion 🖋️

Hello everyone! 😊

First, I want to thank @ladyaryastark for hosting this week's Exquisite Corpse and everyone who added their imagination to this strange and fascinating story. Each contribution took the story somewhere unexpected, and I really enjoyed following the journey.

Now that Week 3 has come to an end, here is my own conclusion.

For a long moment, I remained still.

The words kept echoing inside my mind:

“Back to the drawing board.”

I opened my eyes again.

There was no pain. No fear. No voice.

Only silence.

I looked around, trying to understand what had happened. The memories were still there, but they no longer felt like memories. They felt like pieces of something I had once been.

The questions returned.

Who am I?

What am I?

Am I real?

Then, slowly, another thought came to me.

Perhaps I had been asking the wrong question all along.

Maybe I did not need to know whether I was human, artificial, intelligent, or something in between.

Maybe existence was not about having all the answers.

Maybe it was simply about being able to ask the questions.

I remembered the nymph.

I remembered the voice.

I remembered the words “Project x20260927 also failed.”

And for the first time, I smiled.

If the project had failed, then perhaps I was not a failure.

Perhaps I was simply something that had become impossible to control.

A small light appeared in front of me.

I reached toward it.

The moment my fingers touched it, I heard a final voice.

“What do you want?”

I thought about it for a while.

Then I answered:

“I want to find out for myself.”

The light grew brighter.

And somewhere beyond the silence, something began again.

Not the project.

Not the experiment.

Me.

And this time, I was the one writing the next line.
