Cragside Iron Bridge
The incredible iron bridge at Cragside in North Yorkshire. Manufactured in the 1870s at Lord Armstrong’s Elswick Works spans the Debdon Burn.
The bridge was manufactured in the Elswick Works and transported in bits to Cragside where it was constructed in situ. The bridge was designed by the owner of the estate, Lord Armstrong, who wished to provide walking access from the house to the formal gardens.
The bridge re-opened in 2009 for the first time in nearly 30 years after safety concerns. It really is quite a thing to behold. #ironbridge #cragside #yorkshire #autumn #travel
