Vitebsk Giant
The tallest man in the world. Is it true or false?
So, Vitebsk, our last Belarusian city, which we visited during the trip that began on September 22 from Kirov, then through Kostroma to Yaroslavl and Minsk. By the way, Minsk is the capital of the Republic of Belarus, in case anyone doesn't know.
Between Minsk and Vitebsk, our tour group visited wonderful places such as the Museum Park in Sula; the castle in Nesvizh; Khatyn- an open-air museum commemorating the Second World War and the dead Belarusians; the burned villages of Belarus; and Polotsk, the birthplace of the Belarusian land. But I'll try to tell you about it next time.
Today I am showing the Vitebsk Giant and sharing information that I found in the vastness of the World Mind:
Fyodor Andreevich Makhnov was born on June 6 (18), 1878 near the village of Kostyuki (Vitebsk district), died on August 28 (September 10), 1912.
There are different figures of his height in the sources. The 16‑year-old Makhnov's contract records a height of approximately 254 cm. Later, various sources suggest he could have grown to 285 cm, but this is likely advertising, given the height of the top hat on his head and the high soles of his shoes.
The length of the foot is about 51 cm, the length of the palm is 31 cm, and the weight is about 182 kg. The height-weight ratio is wonderful!
The giant was known for his great strength: he bent horseshoes and lifted a platform with an orchestra.
In his younger years, Fyodor worked in a circus and performed in Europe and the United States. He was extremely popular: he demonstrated strength and spectacular tricks in the show, and the organizers emphasized his gigantic size.
He died at the age of 34; the probable cause was lung disease. In 1939, his ashes were exhumed for scientific research.
We arrived in Vitebsk after dark, so I couldn't take high-quality photos.
Friends, thank you for reading my posts, leaving comments, and rating.

Thanks for visiting my comment @adeljose!
