The next sandwich

I have a confession to make. It’s about bread. In this case, you could just as easily call it a sandwich or a packed lunch… The sort of packed lunch that’s often taken to school or work in a lunchbox, or handed out by the hotel to tourists heading out for a day trip, setting off on a journey or are leaving.
I can’t stand the sight of those sandwiches with spread, lettuce, cheese, meat and tomato any more; I can’t stomach them, and there’s still one sitting in the fridge. The plan is for it to disappear today, preferably not into my stomach. I don’t like bread; it makes me choke. I simply can’t swallow it. So I’m waiting for the right time to slip it into the stomach of someone who’s always faithfully by my side (as soon as I enter the kitchen), pops its head into the fridge first, before I can catch a glimpse of the inside, much to the surprise of the owner who says she’s never given anything to start this habit. Well, that’s not entirely true. Rendered fat is also given to our four-legged friend with a bit of bread, though that doesn’t happen very often.
Man’s best friend, however, has a good memory and a keen nose when it comes to that sort of thing, and knows without fail who gives what and when.
Incidentally, the bread next to it is inedible too. It was already disgustingly dry when it was bought (not by me).
I’ll just skip breakfast again and wait for that moment, the next sandwich disappears into the dog’s stomach. Hopefully, next time the guests will take the packed lunches they’ve ordered with them.

O dear.. you don't like bread? Never did or did something happen that turned you off bread? Luckily you have a companion who would clear the bread or sandwiches for you. When I was a kid, my mom used to make 2 slices of bread with margarine and I hated it. I would throw them into my neighbour's lawn (when the weeds and grass were tall, so that it disappeared into it, hoping a stray cat would eat it).
