AGING

The poor house for some reason, it had stood unoccupied for a very long time the roof was gradually collapsing, and the paint was peeling away. It felt as though the house were in a state of suspended animation, yet there was one sign of life within a mango tree, lush and green, bearing fresh fruit.

Ese contraste entre la casa abandonada y el mango verde cargado de fruta me quedó dando vueltas, la vida abriéndose paso donde ya nadie vive. ¿La foto la tomaste vos en el lugar o es de algún paseo?

Photo taken at the location; the house is right next to mine.

It feels as if I read a poem. An ode to the old house, home and soul of the owner.

What is the poem like?

Houses have a life cycle, too. And sometimes, when their owners pass away, they gradually follow in their footsteps. A beautiful photograph and an interesting piece of writing.

Las casas también tienen un ciclo de vida. Y a veces cuando los propietarios fallecen, ellas poco a poco les siguen sus pasos. Hermosa fotografía e interesante escrito.

I really agree, if a place has no inhabitants, everything will disappear even if the item/object is new

This house is actually beautiful, you can still see so much potential in it. With a little cleaning and some repairs, it would come back to life again. I love how the mango tree is still standing strong beside it.

Sometimes, the owner is pressured by their in-laws regarding the house.

To repair it or to sell it? It's a tough choice, but they should consider remodeling it. I think the house still has a strong foundation.

It is true that if they are willing to sell it cheaply, no repairs are needed, but it would be very difficult to sell; conversely, repairing it would entail very high costs.
