Miniature
"There you are!"
Ray snapped out of his thoughts and turned. His mother stood at the doorstep of the cafe with her new boyfriend, Albert, looking sternly at his direction.
"Why didn't you reply to my message young man?" His mother asked firmly while Albert gave him a concerned look.
Ray didn't feel like answering, so he just shrugged like he always did.
His mother and Albert sat down at the two seats in front of him, looked around the cafe and discussed what they wanted to order. Then, Albert stood up and walk towards the counter while mother narrowed her eyes and looked at Ray.
“I was worried, Ray. Don’t ignore my messages next time, okay?” she said, her voice softening.
Ray felt a twinge of sorry and apologized. "I didn't hear the phone", he added.
Albert soon returned with an apple pie and two glasses of apple juice. He placed them on the table and took his seat.
Mother then took out a bag and passed to Ray. "Guess what Albert got you?"
Inside the bag was a small box and mother took it out to show to Ray.
A miniature build-it-yourself triangle modelling puzzle, similar to the triangle structure with D-holes outside the cafe.
Ray rolled his eyes.
