Mia was 7. She loved her grandpa's farm.
One morning grandpa said, "Come, I have a surprise."
Behind the old house stood a small thin tree with just one red apple.
"What is this?" Mia asked.
"Your tree," grandpa smiled. "I planted it the day you were born."
"But it's so small!" Mia laughed.
Grandpa sat down. "When I was young, people said nothing would grow here. But I watered this seed every day. It teaches us — love needs time."
Mia touched the warm apple. "Can I eat it?"
"Not today," grandpa said. "This first apple is for hope. When you are sad, come here and remember — Little does not mean weak.
Mia hugged him tight. And that little tree became her favorite place in the world.
How special is that, a tree planted on tour birthalday. Me it live a long and fruitful life just like Mia who started as a seed too.
By the way, the new apple trees over here remain small you can keep them in a pot.
