Rice And Plantain Cravings

in CCC • 16 days ago

1000204256.jpgIt is Sunday & I finally added plantain to my rice today. It has been long since I ate this combo. I fried the plantain golden and tasty, with rice it was perfect. Honestly I am trying not to gain weight but look at this full plate in front of me, I just could not resist it, I finished everything!🤣1000204241.jpg

Thanks for reading

Life is short and unpredictable, if you feel like eating it, just eat 😅 but in moderation. That is our mantra. The same goes with if it is something you like to do, and you can afford it in price and time and physical, just do it.

The rice and plaintain look yummyyy. We have fried bananas here too but usually coated with flour to create a crispy layer. Yummm.

We have it in different ways:

Baked like this covered by sugar first

Baked after being dipped in egg and covered by sugar.fruedvafter being pulled through a dough (the same dough we use for baking "appelveignets" (apple fritters) for new year's Eve.

I agree, one should not be greedy on oneself if it comes to food or something one likes as long as it is affordable, life is too short and both fife energy and some extra to life @beckymia

Does it become extra sweet with the added sugar? Since bananas are already naturally sweet.

Moderation is key 😂 Crispy fried bananas sound yummy! We only fry plantains here

Congratulations!

Thank you, thank you for this surprise upvote @booming02 (@lirvic) ! It truly encourages us to engage 🫶

Well, you could have divided it into portions, or??? 🙃

Hahaha
I have longed for this moment 🤣No way I'm missing this. My stomach will file a lawsuit.🤣

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

It reminded me of my first experience eating "plantains"...it was in Ecuador, during a work trip!

It's something that in my country we never eat with food, well, most of us I think, because here we eat ripe bananas with milk and honey hehe.

By the way, it looks like a normal portion for a normal adult. 😜

Here we prepare it in so many different ways - fried, boiled, roasted. We eat it with almost everything - beans, rice, eggs, stew, it goes so well with all of them

That milk and honey combination sounds delicious though, I'd love to try it. Do you use powdered milk or liquid milk? Or is it condensed milk? 🥛

Honey is quite expensive here, but I will definitely give it a try. Do you add anything else to it?

We used to be really boring with food, but now that I know that mature bananas go with everything, we're going to experiment more.

Since we see it as a fruit here, we almost always use it in desserts. For example, we slice bananas, add milk or yogurt, and sweeten with molasses or sugar.

And now that it's so hot, we blend them with milk for a snack .

Everything is expensive here too, but luckily there are a couple of plants at my parents' house that usually bear fruit. 😊

We also eat it sliced on bread (next to just so or in yoghurt or shakes), you can also make chips out of it, bake bananbread plus baked or fried ananas is also yummy! Ever tried them with pancake?

This BOOMING vote is yours and well deserved!

Oh, I think I get what you mean. Where you put different fruits together, add milk, and eat it like cereal. That one is done with bananas, but the one I fried is plantain — the unripe ones.

They are different here. Plantains are thicker and the peel is green, while bananas have a yellow peel.

Hmm, I've heard that about plantains and bananas before! To me, they're both bananas, lol... So plantains never get sweet?

Haha. But they do, If you let the plantain get really ripe— yellow with black spots

It ..black like they say here.
If bananas look like that they are also ripe unless they were kept cold (cold home or fridge).
