INKtober 2026 - The Mystical Cat
Nothing as mystical as the cat. To some a burden, to other holy, wise and honoured like a god.
Cats are popular, and grumpy face or not, people like them and find them cute. Cats seem to feel radiation, including that which comes from underground. Some of us try to avoid it, so if you want to be sure you are safe, take a cat. They love sleeping on these spots. The telly and computer, for example, is very appealing to them.
Their purring is good for the mood and best of all, they can take care of themselves.
It took me several hours at work to finish this. I took a small piece of the desk and at times my lap to draw. I started with a pencil since I liked to use the dip pen once at home. Since it became later I decided to try a pen.
Next I found some sort of (strange) fineliners in different colours and tried them out. I didn't like the result.
Once home I added watercolour paint to cover up the result. I like it more this way and if you wonder what this is: It is one of the tarot cards in the set Chinese tarot.
I like the strange way the cat is drawn. And yes, the corrections are still visible which zo consider a good thing.

🤣🤣🤣 if you ask me they do not like water. They hardly drink and hide if it rains and fight you if you try to bath them (except for two I know who mainly accept it because of their owner, but it takes ages to get dry).
Watercolour it is, worked out for me better plus colouring goes way faster. Thanks for stopping by, let me see what you did before the wifi leaves me.
Gerasim from Mumu was probably the only one who knew the right way to bathe dogs and cats—though perhaps he took it a bit too far?
I think people choose their clothes, housing, and cars based on that same principle: it has to be comfortable :)

Thank you for your kind reply. I’m far from good at drawing. I skipped those lessons. I didn’t understand a thing about it. I opted for photography and sculpture, and I never draw when I’m painting. I still don’t understand how people do it or why. Who knows, maybe I’ll learn this month. I’m still finding my way, as a friend remarked in response to what I said.

When you associate cats with mystical, my mind went to the Catwoman movie that had Halle Berry as the Catwoman and how she became Catwoman. The cat scenes were mystical. And your cat really looks mystical.. meowwwww.

I had the ancient Greek cats in mind. Strange how culture changes how we look at animals.

I intend to make something else. This one gives me a hard time. For now I will use it, since I do not have a steady hand if it comes to painting characters and lines, who know one day.
