Inktober 2026 #2 Relic
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, everyone.
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah, everyone.Hello dear friends,
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy.
Alhamdulillah, I am doing very well too.
The keyword for the second day of Inktober is 'Memento' (or 'Souvenir'). Based on this theme, I am going to draw a broken clock today. I have a painful memory associated with a broken clock like this. I had bought a showpiece containing such a clock for someone dear to me; however, before I could gift it, a conflict arose between us, and I ended up breaking it. That is exactly what it looked like at the time. While drawing this, I was deeply reminded of those days. I found myself lost in those memories while sketching, yet completing the artwork brought me a sense of joy.
There is a unique, living love hidden within art—a love I try to draw from my heart and bring to life on the blank page. While creating art, I often lose myself in that world; I then pull myself back to complete the pieces and share them with my friends. I love sharing my work with them, and their wonderful feedback inspires me further. Today, I am going to share the step-by-step process of how I completed this artwork so you can follow along.
I really love this piece as well. I truly enjoy the process where a piece of art emerges effortlessly from just a few simple strokes. This particular piece is one of my absolute favorites—it holds a special place in my heart. Somehow, whenever I feel the urge to create, I find myself drawn to these kinds of designs; they seem to find their way to me naturally. I simply love creating art like this.
So, let me walk you through the process of how I created this piece.
I hope you enjoy it.
Here are the materials I used for today's artwork:
🌈 White paper
🌈 Pencil
🌈 Gel pen
🌈 Eraser
🌈 Colors
✏️ Step 1
✏️ Step 1First, I sketched a broken section of a clock using a pencil. I also drew a butterfly resting on the edge of that section and added some intricate designs to its wings.
♻️ Step 2
♻️ Step 2In the second step, I drew a few more fragments of the clock and added two more butterflies. These butterflies seem to enhance the beauty of the broken clock even further.
♻️ Step 3
♻️ Step 3In the third step, I sketched the remaining broken pieces of the clock.
♻️ Step 4
♻️ Step 4In this step, I erased the faint pencil marks and outlined the design using a gel pen.
♻️Step 5
♻️Step 5Next, I colored the numbers inside the clock face black and painted the clock hands yellow.
♻️Step 6
♻️Step 6Then, I colored the areas surrounding the clock and the butterfly's wings. I tried to enhance their beauty using purple, orange, and black colors.
♻️Step 7
♻️Step 7Finally, I colored the flowers in various shades to complete my artwork.
I hope everyone enjoys today's art piece.
Wishing everyone well, I am signing off here.

Your work looks very detailed and you picked an interesting subject. I hope the pain this gift once caused has vanished by drawing this.
I wonder about your gel pen. Is it a fineliner or?
🍀❤️
No sir, this is a normal 0.5 mm gel pen. You have observed my post perfectly. Thank you very much.
I see that the name Salvador Dalí might soon be forgotten :)
