Back Home Getting Grounded
After a month nursing my patient in the hell of South Carolina, I am back to the easel, and the glorious normalcy of the abnormal. I give you some pictures of my studio, and a link to my favorite podcast of which @jompiy and I make up two-thirds of the celebrity cast.
I cannot wait for the Intellectual season to settle in when I can paint all day and blog at night without the indoor guilt that pesters me all summer. These pictures are what I walked into the day after arriving home. It’s a nice spot. I am going to keep it.
And today’s podcast:
Great studio and podcast!
Thanks!
Feeling home:)

Thank you! It’s good to be back!
Welcome home! Such a colourful and warm welcome by all those paintings. They must have been dry by now or?
I hope you were able to keep drawing even it is with oil pastels.
And now I go listen to your podcast.
Thank you, it is good to be back, though the change in climate has brought on a long forgotten bout with asthma. And yes, all the paintings are dry so it will be. breeze packaging them. I was able to make 75 pastels while away, and seal each one in a clear plastic envelope. I only lost 2 days to my holiday accruing. Back to playing catch up now because their are several time-consuming domestic chores that need my attention. Never a dull moment in this dull life!
Sorry to hear about your asthma, I hope you'll be without soon.
Sounds to me your life is far from dull!
75 pastels is amazing and just two days "holidays" means you are on track and have left for hopefully some relaxing days.
Those clear plastic envelopes don't stick to the oil pastels or did you spray them first? Here I can still not buy the special fixative, but saw a video on YouTube where different sprays and "varnishes" were tried out.
I intend to try out the cheap "gloss" I use for the acrylic paintings, though it is brush work.
I’ll be better. A change in the climate, and during the change in season. Body will adjust:)
The fixative I use keeps them in tact without smudging the plastic, and I’ve stacked them 100 high in a box. I am using Winston and Newton, but also had success with Krylon.
Both are meant for oil pastels or just the average fixative? I only found Sennelier but it is not available here since months. I doubt that will change. Supplies are getting fewer.
Can you tell me what Emma used? Oil pastels or sift pastels, pencils? How come hers do not smudge?
I still try to dry one on a canvas.
