Inktober 2026 #2 Relic

Relic

It is October—the month of Inktober for the past seventeen years. It is never too late to find out about it.

Since I completed my second exercise yesterday, I’ll share it here without overthinking it. I assure you, it looks better on paper than it does in the photographs.

The keyword for Day 2 of Inktober is relic. I browsed an image site to pick something I liked, and there it was a beautiful coffee grinder.

I love coffee and appreciate these artifacts born of human ingenuity. They possess a classic, warm, vintage feel—antiques that, in all likelihood, still serve their original purpose.

I began the exercise by sketching the figure's outlines in pencil. Then, I refined the lines and started going over them with a black pen.

At the same time, I filled in the shadowed areas using bolder, closely spaced strokes.

Finally, I lightly applied the pen tip to the highlights and lighter sections of the wood-and-metal piece.

Something about the perspective still didn't look quite right to me; I believe I fixed it by straightening the line and making it thicker.

The original object features red details, so I used a red pen for those parts. Yes, it lacks the rooster but I didn't dare.

Wow, it turned out very well! You have talent, like most good writers who are creative in many ways.

I remember these very well and they are still for sale in second hand shopsm i like everything that doesn't need to be plugged in.

On to the next one!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Oh, yes , nowadays most artifacts depend on batteries or electricity, not this one, which is also kind of an artcraft.

Hola, vecina.

Gracias, vecino. Espero ver sus dibujos.

that vintage coffee grinder was such a cool choice for the relic prompt. i like how you used the red pen for those specific details at the end.

Thank you! It's a very cute artifact.

Thank you very much for your kind support 🙏🏻
