inktober 2026 . 15 a happy little girl

HOORAY

  • Hello everyone! Today’s theme is—hooray! For this piece, I’ve drawn a young girl running around and playing with her pet—a white dog.

  • Here, I am using one black pen and a sheet of white paper.

  • Next, we create a sketch of a young girl having fun, running and playing with her dog.

  • Next, we add shading to the bag and carefully draw straight lines using a black pen.

I remember wanting to watch a movie, but my mom asked me to take the dog out... I did as she asked, but I kept wishing the dog would finish its business quickly so I wouldn’t miss too much of the film—lol! And when it finally happened, I felt like shouting "Hooray!"—I scooped the dog up under my arm and ran home :)

🤣🤣🤣 that sounds very familiar!

If you want to forget about something, try getting into keeping hamsters—they don’t need to be taken out for walks! :)

...but they stink!

By the way, I had one as a young teenager. A very cute gold hamster. Daily he said me goodbye and as I arrived back from school he stood there waiting his little hands clasped around the bars of the cage.

Just after I’d come back from holiday and my father’s assistant had been looking after him, he was waiting for me again and I saw him fall over. He got back up and when I looked at his eye very closely, I saw that it looked strange. One eye had completely shrivelled up like a raisin.
I told my father that, as the hamster was ill and kept falling over, he should put it to sleep so it wouldn’t suffer any more. He refused at first, but eventually he did it, and we buried the little pet in the garden.

Years later, I took another one for my children, but it was a terribly aggressive little thing, not at all likeable, and it remained a biter too. That was pretty much it for hamsters, they’re no fun; I’d much rather just have a fish, a gold (lucky)fish, black mollies or a koi carp.

When it comes to pets, you might not have to go for a walk, but there’s always work to be done.

Forty years ago, I would have agreed with you—livebearers and members of the carp family were incredibly hardy and undemanding. But a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then; many hybrids have appeared, and not all of them share that same zest for life—lol! I say this from experience—after all, I used to own a chain of pet stores! :)

So happy—yay, I can finally watch my favorite movie! Haha!

In this regard, a drawn dog is much more convenient than a real one :)

Such a happy painting! If you ask me this kind happiness only exists in the movies.

In my opinion, for young children, happiness is still pure—but for adults, it can all be manufactured.

thank you for the support

Beautiful drawing, a very nice and happy scene. In fact, both look happy.
In my head a happy song is being played.
